denuclearization: the process of deactivating and destroying existing nuclear weapons and discouraging the production of new nuclear weapons.
pursuit: trying to get something, going after something
suspended: stopped
regime: group in power
rations: small amount of food given to each person
leverage: something to trade with
confront: to meet, usually to fight
progressive (politics): are politics where people want to make many changes
conservative: want to maintain traditions, stay the same
major crisis: a big problem

"turned upside down": a big change
"world power": a country that has a lot of power all over the world.
