 This month the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Snake, started. Let’s look at the Chinese calender and “zodiac” to talk about the year we were born. What animal is your sign and what are some qualities (things that are true) of that animal sign?

Rat – 鼠 (子) Ox – 牛 (丑) (Water buffalo in Vietnam) Yin

Tiger – 虎 (寅) Yang

Rabbit – 兔 or 兎 (卯) (Cat in Vietnam) Yin

Dragon – 龍 / 龙 (辰) Yang

Snake – 蛇 (巳) Yin

Horse – 馬 / 马 (午) Yang

Goat (aka Ram) – 羊 (未) Yin

Monkey – 猴 (申) Yang

Rooster – 雞 / 鸡 (酉) Yin

Dog – 狗 / 犬 (戌) Yang

Pig – 豬 / 猪 (亥) Yin

-In Chinese astrology the animal signs are given by year. 

-They show or “symbolize” what others see you as being or how you present yourself.

-They are also broken into the two opposite energies Yin and Yang
