Teacher: Ikee

Last winter I did some interesting things. First, I traveled to Guam with my grandparents and my cousins. I first thought Guam would be very cold, but actually, it was hot! We swam in the pool for a long time, and the adults went off to ride "rock slides." "Rockslides" are slides made out of rocks, and it really hurts when you slide down them.

In Guam, especially at night, it was awesome. When we went in the pool, there were huge bugs floating around! Then my uncle said "Let's go shopping" to make us forget the bugs. He bought us small tape-recorders, one each. We recorded the sounds that people made. When we heard them again, they were really funny! Then, we went off to look around the city of Guam. When I rode the double-decker bus, I was really happy, because it was my first time riding one. I saw really interesting things while riding on the bus. You would say, "WOW," if you ever saw them. There were lizards crawling around everywhere! There are lots of lizards in Guam. When we got out of the bus, we went straight to the hotel. That was because it was not as warm as before. In the room, we watched some of our usual TV programs. We were so tired that night, so we decided to go to sleep early.

The next morning, I asked my cousins and my parents what was for breakfast. They said that I could eat whatever I wanted because the restaurant was a buffet. I tried some surprising foods, like snails, and some interesting soups, but they were terrible!

Another thing I did was go to a ski camp. I went there by persuading my mom every day! When I rode on the bus to go to the ski resort with my friends, it snowed a lot. I wanted to play in the snow because I kept seeing it. Instead, I just closed my eyes until we arrived. "HOORAY!" We arrived! When we lined up, the teachers told us which team we were on. I had five friends at the camp, but only one friend and my brother were on my team. The friend that was on my team said he was very good at skiing. I saw him ride, but he couldn't even go down, because he was afraid of falling down! Unlike my friend, my brother and I were the fastest on the team, and we had ridden skis only one time. When it was nearly dinnertime, we went down to eat dinner. It tasted great! After that, we ate some of the snacks we had brought from home. We slept at 12:00 o'clock because we talked and talked. The worst thing was that I could not sleep well. My friend kept snoring! The next morning, I got homesick right before we got on the bus! Anyway, it was the best vacation ever in my whole life!
