My first European Trip
July 21, 2012

Let me tell you about my special trip! I went to Europe with my two uncles and my two cousins.

On the first day, we flew ten hours to get to Slovakia.  People thought I should be tired, but I was very excited. The next day, we went to my uncle’s company in Slovakia. We looked around the factory. Everyone looked busy and the jobs looked difficult to do. We wanted to go shopping, but all the shops were closed. So, instead, we had dinner and packed our luggage for our next trip to France.

In France, we went to many places. When I walked along Champs-Elysees Avenue, I stopped and bought a Minnie Mouse cup for my sister and some pens for my friends. I thought of the street as “Character Avenue” because there were many different stores selling character items. My favorite place in France was Notre Dame because I saw it in my history and art books, so it was marvelous to see in person. A miserable experience there was visiting Versailles Palace. I couldn’t go in there because it was crowded. If I can go there again, I want to go inside.

The next trip was to Italy. Italy was my favorite country because the architecture was very colorful. Firenze in Italy is famous for leather. I bought many things for my family, like a wallet, a bracelet, and a belt. The designs were simple and not very colorful, but they looked nice. I went to Burano in Venezia. Burano is famous for its colorful houses and glass art. I bought a necklace and a glass souvenir designed to look like candy.  I hoped to buy more, but I didn’t have enough money. However, I thought this could be a good excuse to come back again someday.

The last trip was to Vienna, Austria. We didn’t have much time, so we spent only two days there. On the first day we went to our hotel. I was surprised by the size of the room in the hotel. It was much bigger than the other hotel rooms we stayed in. Then, we went to a big department store. I bought a present. I really wanted to buy an orange wallet, but it was $79, which was too expensive, so I didn't buy it.

On the way back to the hotel, I thought “I will save money to buy the wallet later.” We decided to take a tram to our hotel, but, it was hard to find the station. So, we asked some people on the street for directions. We asked three different people and they were all very helpful. I found myself thinking Austrians were some of the kindest people in Europe.

This trip was very impressive for me, especially since it was far away. If I can, I will go there again. I want to visit more countries abroad, especially Germany, England, and Canada.
