The Repeater The Repeater
The Repeater takes normal end punctuation marks (like our friends the period, the exclamation point and the question mark) and doubles, triples, quadruples and even octuples them like so:
·
Charlie’s pants were soiled….He saw a bucket of
water and sat down in it...
· Watch out for that flying pig!!!!!!!!
· Are you really going to eat that shoe???
The Repeater is often guilty of combining end punctuation marks as well. For example:
· Please, help!!??
· Can you help me, please!!??
What do you do when you come across The Repeater’s high jinks? Eliminate all the extra punctuation marks at once and ensure to leave a single end punctuation mark at the end of each sentence:
· Watch out for that flying pig!
· Are you really going to eat that shoe?
· Please, help!
· Can you help me, please!
