My Unique Winter Experience

One day, I saw an advertisement on the street for an exhibition. The name of the exhibition was, “A Dialogue in Darkness.”  I thought, “What an odd name!”, but I became interested, so I searched for the name on the internet. It turned out that the exhibition would be held in a totally dark place without any light.  Attendants would not able to see anything in the exhibition. I thought this would be quite weird, but fascinating. I liked the concept of it, which was you block one sense in your body that you use every day and feel with the other senses. I thought it would be quite special experience, so I decided to go.

It was held in a building on the 9th floor. The building didn’t seem that big. I was in a group of seven people with one guide. Inside the exhibition, we couldn't see anything but total darkness. We couldn't even see our own hands. We had to follow the voice of the guide and our other senses, except vision, became more sensitive. We passed a forest, a street, a market, and a boat before we finally got to a cafe.

The name of the café was "Dark Café." We didn't read this name. Instead, we touched it with our fingers and recognized the letters. We ordered beverages and were then guided to the table. When we drank the beverages, we were asked what we thought we were drinking. I knew my drink was apricot juice.  Another member thought she had gotten coke, but it turned out that what she drank was sprite. It was interesting to realize that we even use our vision when identifying tastes. I enjoyed the rest of the experience, as well. It was really interesting to discover what it would be like to be blind.
