 Hello everyone! I am Lucy Song from Vision Middle School. I’m in 7th grade, and I live in a city called Pyeong-Taek. I like to read books and watch movies. Did you know that books have been in existence since not long after mankind started to read and write? Since there are numerous books, to find a good one isn’t hard. When the motion picture industry started to thrive, some good books caught attention of movie producers. Today I’m going to introduce some good movies that are produced based on novels.

 One highly acclaimed example of a book turned into a movie is Harry Potter. J. K. Rowling captivated readers with her marvelous set-up of the wizard world; Hogwarts, the wizard food, the wizard supplies, the wizard clothes and many other magnificent aspects of wizard culture. I, personally, really loved the part where Harry and his friends ate Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. I later bought them on the Internet and tasted these beans. I think these kind of specific details grasp the readers. This tale of Harry Potter is great in both books and in movies.

 The Hunger Games is another great book that started the Future Fictions Craze. After the Hunger Games series became a bestseller, a bunch of other sci-fi books such as the Divergent series, the Maze Runner series and the Uglies series that tell us the story of future society became very popular. It’s about how the United States turned into a despotic state, and how a girl called Katniss tries to stop this dictatorship. The plot sucks you into the book; you can’t come out of it once you start reading. They made excellent movies out of the Hunger Games series. They didn’t leave out the small details, and the actor acted out the heroine’s psychological state perfectly. I think these books and movie series are the best ones I’ve ever read or seen.

 Maze Runner is a fascinating book that tells us a tale about a futuristic city, filled with an unknown virus caused by the sun. To find the cure, people do horrendous acts; they kill people and do experiments on them alive in the name of justice and peace for the human race. When you’re reading this book, you can feel yourself being mesmerized by the dramatic twists of the plot. Movie producers saw this point and made a magnificent film. They plucked out the details a little bit, which makes the motion picture a little bit disappointing. However, the actors acted so well that it makes up for the lack of details. By reading and seeing both the book and the movie, Maze Runner is an excellent example of how moviemakers could transform a book into a movie.

 I think books and movies are both great for people to look at and find pleasure. I saw all of the books and movies I mentioned, and they are great. I hope you will watch them and enjoy them, like me. Thank you for listening to my speech!
