This untitled painting is from 1966 by an artist called Chico. The artist died in 1985 and was not appreciated for most of his life and career. Now his paintings are hanging at famous galleries in New York and are very expensive. Chico was an indigenous Brazilian painter who used bright colors and images of animals from the rain forests of South America.
I like this painting a lot. I love the colors and the way the tree, animals, and even the background feel alive.
Many artists are under appreciated during their lives, and only given credit after they die, such as Vincent Van Gogh. This is quite sad, as they never get to experience having the world view them as the talented artists they are. Why could this be?
We should learn to appreciate artists and art from our current living artists as well as those who have passed on.
That being said, I do think this painting is very brilliant and beautiful as are many other of Chico's works.
