LOWRIE's BOARD
Homework:
Week of 1/30
Due Monday February 6th
Homework: Write 5-6 sentences about getting ready for work, arriving, and settling in. Use vocabulary from our book (pages 6-10, 14-15). Remember, you can use the book to write about yourself by doing the same thing we practice in class: changing the subject of the sentences so that each one is about YOU. This will help with grammar and make the assignment very quick and easy :)
Week of 1/2-
Homework: Write a short paragraph (3-4 sentences) using the vocabulary we studied in class (pages 70-71) about turning on or shutting down your computer. Like last time be careful to keep the verbs in the same “tense” (past, present, future actions)
-Use at least 3 of the following words: cursor, CPU, mouse pad, save, word document, monitor, screen
Week of 12/26-
Homework: Write a short paragraph (3-4 sentences) using the vocabulary we studied in class (pages 78-79) about using the internet. Use at least 5 of the vocabulary words. Like last time be careful to keep the verbs in the same “tense” (past, present, future actions).
Week of 12/19
Homework: Write a short paragraph (3-4 sentences) about an email using the vocabulary we studied in class. Did you have to open the email, download an attachment, or forward it to someone else? When did you receive it? Be careful to keep the verbs in the same “tense” (past, present, future actions).
Example: open, attach, forward vs. opened,
attached, forwarded

I had a job about patient evacuation by airlift. So i always went on line for information of that. But there was few videos what i wanted information. Finally my coworker gave me a video about that. He searched in You Tube portal site to type in a keyword that was "flying hospital". So i copied that video to download.
Good Job! Thanks for posting the assignment so quickly :)
Just few small things we can talk about:
-Usually in english we do not start sentences with 'So' (use a comma here instead or start the second sentence and final sentence with 'I')
-on line---you can make this one word 'online'
- "But there was few videos what i wanted information." was vs. were--which verb should we use here? Also, you should use with or containing instead of what to describe the videos--Example: 'But there were few videos with the wanted information' or 'But there were few videos containing the wanted information'.... what just asks about identity of the object (video)---with asks about the information in the object (information found on video).
-'He searched in You Tube portal site to type in a keyword that was "flying hospital".' to type---we want to make it clear who types so we should change this verb: typed is the past tense. If we do this we must take off the 'to' and add 'and'. Is there just one keyword here or two? You do not need 'that was'
Example: He searched in You Tube portal site and typed in the keywords "flying hospital"
Yesterday my job was alert officer. And first I took a my work computer and seated my chair. I wanted to know the passwords for open monitor screen. And I asked my coworker. He told that passwords for me. And I used to click my Intranet site by mouse on mousepad. And I worked my jobs by word processing.
Extra words you don't need
Words or phrases that could/should be changed
He told that passwords for me. In english we first say who he/she told or did, then say what he told or did-- "He told me the passwords"
examples:
-She told
(who) me
(what) to eat the hamburger
She asked
(who) you
(what) to clean your room
*used to, these words give a special meaning when put together--they mean 'in the past but not anymore'
-for example:
I used to take the school bus to school everyday
I used to eat baby food
I used to like that band, but now they sound terrible!
Note: This homework will help you use the vocabulary you already know that has to do with sending or receiving email. You do not need to write an actual email. Just use some important nouns and verbs from our English for the Office textbook 74-77. If possible use the word recipient.
example: I opened my email account and saw many messages in the inbox. I opened the message from my boss and downloaded the attachment. Then I forwarded the message to a new recipient, Mary from the sales department. Finally, I exited my email account and went home.
