Music Video Reviews

Watching music videos is a great way to practice listening, help pronunciation problems, and learn a little about American or English culture. Writing about them critically (thinking about both the good and bad parts of the video) is great practice for writing!

Here is the basic way to start!

First, choose your video--I like to use Youtube. Then write information about the video. Finish with a review and score (grade) for the video.

Review: (about 4 or 5 sentences describing the parts of the video you liked or didn't like, the main idea of the story, the feeling of the song, and the style of the video)

Michael Jackson’s Thriller

Review-

First of all this has a good start. A scary start that makes you feel very nervous. When you see this it makes you get curious what will be the next scene. And then, I was surprised that it was a movie. I like the part when the zombie’s dance with Michael Jackson. It’s a very fantastic idea to have this kind of movie. Different from other video’s it’s like a musical. In my personal thoughts Michael did too many face changes. But it was a bit scary for me, and it could be scary for adults too. So, my score is 8.67

Review:

This Video is a romantic story about Romeo and Juliet. The adjectives described the palace with specific words. So, it was easy to know that Taylor was in a palace. The idea about Romeo and Juliet was an excellent idea to put in a story like this. I am hoping to see a great video of Taylor swift’s song because it is better to hear than other stories. But, I think the dress that she wore at the last time and the times Romeo and Juliet hug and gather their heads very close was too inappropriate for young kids. So, my score of this fantastic video is…….  8.7654321!

Bonus Question: How does Taylor Swift’s story end differently than the famous story of Romeo Juliet?

The real story ‘Romeo and Juliet’ ends with a sad ending.  Romeo and Juliet die because of poisonous drink. However, Taylor Swift’s story is a happy ending. Romeo and Juliet meet again at school.
