Summer Story

It was a hot, humid summer day. It was a sudden trip, and I was really excited to have a trip by myself. I got off the tour bus with excitement, but its feeling soon disappeared. There was nothing in front of me. No sighting! I just started stepping onward to somewhere, and I found the place named Samesun which was a youth hostel. I got a room and shared it with six different foreigners. I could only smile at them, say hello, and wasn't capable of having conversation. I thought it would be great if I could speak English well.

On the first floor, there was a list of the winery tours. I knew that the place I came to was famous for wine. The next day, I joined the winery tour right away. I was one of a group of seven. The group members were from England, Holland, and Calgary. A couple from England had really nice manners. The people from Holland were a couple and their one friend, and the people from Calgary were another couple, and a mother and daughter. They tried to talk with me all the time. They are all really kind to me. We moved as one group all this time. First, we visited five wineries. When I came into the first winery, the sour smell was really strong, and I felt drunk by just smelling. The tour guide explained how wine is made, which grapes make a sour taste or a sweet taste, and many things about wine; but I couldn’t understand all of the English. I also tried to taste seven or eight varieties of wines. With this tasting, I felt a bit high. Lastly, we had a lunch together in one of the wineries, and we enjoyed the last moments there.

It was my first trip, and partly I had regret about coming alone. But both the people I met and the winery tour gave me a great impression. I think I enjoyed my first valuable experience with them even though I was not really good at speaking English. I did well.
