The Wizard of Oz is my favorite book because it is mysterious and fun. My favorite character is the lion because he is cute, and he tries to be brave. The story starts in Kansas when Dorothy has a fight with her neighbor about her dog, Toto. Dorothy goes home to see her Aunt Em, but a big storm is coming and the tornado picks up her house. Dorothy and Toto go to the Land of Oz.

In the Land of Oz, Glenda, the Good Witch waits for Dorothy. She thanks Dorothy for killing the Wicked Witch of the East. She gives Dorothy a pair of red shoes. She wants to go home, so she goes to the Wizard of Oz. She goes with Toto, and she meets a scarecrow, tin man, and a lion on her way to see the wizard. The scarecrow wants to see the wizard, so he can get a brain. The tin man wants to see the wizard, so he can get a heart. The lion wants to see the wizard, so he can get courage. They all decide to go with Dorothy to see the wizard together.

They finally meet the Wizard of Oz, but the Wizard of Oz wants them to kill one worse witch-The Wicked Witch of the West. Dorothy, Toto, the scarecrow, the tin man, and the lion go to find the wicked witch's castle. The wicked witch wants Dorothy's magic shoes, but Dorothy wouldn't give her them. The witch makes Dorothy work in her castle. One day, the witch says, "If you don't give me your magic shoes, I will kill your little dog.”. Dorothy becomes very angry. She takes a bucket of water, and throws it all over the witch. The witch starts to melt, until she disappears.

Dorothy and her friends go back to see the Wizard of Oz after they killed the wicked witch. They discover that the Wizard of Oz is a fake wizard. This is because he hides behind a screen and uses a microphone to make his voice loud. He also uses fire to scare people.

After Dorothy and her friends learn the truth about the wizard, they are sad. The Wizard of Oz cannot give the scarecrow some brains, so he gives him a diploma instead. He cannot give the tin man a heart, so he gives him a necklace with a heart clock instead. He cannot give the lion some courage, so he gives him a medal for bravery.

After the ceremony, Glenda, the Good Witch appears. "Dorothy," says the Good Witch, "you must ask your shoes to take you home.” Her red slippers take Dorothy home when she says, “There’s no place like home.”

When Dorothy wakes up, her Aunt is with her and all the characters she saw in the Land of Oz. Could she have been dreaming? Dorothy and Toto live happily ever after.
