Chicago is a big city in the USA. It is in the state of Illinois. My family flew to Chicago in July 2009 to visit my cousin who lives there. It was a very long flight to the United States. Our plane stopped in California and then we flew to Chicago. My family was very tired from the trip.

When I first got to Chicago, I saw many people who looked very tired and very busy. My family had very little energy from the flight so we all went to sleep at my cousin’s house. The next day, my family woke up and went out to go shopping. My mother, sister and I went to a store called Zara and we bought some shoes. I got some sandals that have many colors on them. I was so happy to get them so I took my old shoes off and put on my new sandals.

After shopping some more, my family wanted to go somewhere to eat. We chose a restaurant that had American food. I really liked the hamburger and fries that I ate for lunch. My family also got chocolate ice cream which was very delicious!

The last day my family spent in Chicago we went downtown. I really liked downtown Chicago because there were very tall, interesting buildings. One building my family went into had 100 floors! I also saw a building that looked like a pencil that was very tall. I found out the name of the building later in my English class. It is called the Sears Tower. My mother, sister, and I went into this building and went up in the elevator. This was my favorite part of my trip to Chicago. I hope my next trip to the USA will be to New York City!
