Last summer I went to Europe for a 10-day trip. I flew on Asiana Airlines for 12 hours to land in France at Charles-De-Gaulle International Airport. When I walked out of the airport and into Paris I smelled cigarette smoke and I saw huge clouds of smoke in the air. It seemed that everyone was smoking and it was DISGUSTING.
We got on a bus to the hotel in the suburbs of Paris. It was a very old hotel, so old we used a key made of metal, not a digital one! There were many paintings on the walls and two beds, one for my sister and me and another for our parents. We saw many more paintings when we visited the Louvre, such as the Mona Lisa. This was exciting because it is probably the most famous painting in the world! We also went to the Eiffel Tower, we took the cable car to the third floor and I looked down at France. It seemed very flat to me because Korea has many mountains and hills. We also visited a very fancy palace called Versailles. It was huge and filled with tourists. I thought it would not be a fun place to live, too fancy for me!
Another very different thing in Paris was the food. One night our tour group went to a fancy restaurant and ordered escargot. At first, I didn't want to try it but my parents asked me to. It was very chewy, a little salty, and kind of like a mix of beef and seafood. It was okay, but not great... maybe I'll try it again when I am older if I can. I did, however, enjoy all of the French ice cream available!
After visiting Paris we traveled by bus through Switzerland and then we took a plane to the United Kingdom. The food in England was worse than in France, either too salty or too sweet, never just right. England was flat like France, with only little hills and no mountains.
Finally, we came back to Korea. I realized I really enjoy traveling, but I think Korea is my favorite place in the world!
