Max: I'm afraid of sharks, especially when I swim in the ocean.

Emmy: Me too! But did you know that sharks are in danger too?

Max: You are right. I read it in Time Magazine. People love shark fin soup, especially in China and other Asian countries. I have never eaten it before though, have you?

Emmy: Me neither. I've heard it is really expensive, about $100 for one bowl. That is why it is such a delicacy. Emperors used to eat it long ago, and nowadays it is usually served at special occasions like weddings.

Max: That is the reason why so many sharks are being caught these days. It is because of the demand for shark fins.

Emmy: Now a lot of ocean ecosystems are suffering because there are not enough sharks.

Max: Really?

Emmy: Sharks eat a lot of big fish, so if there were no sharks than there would be too many big fish. They would eat many small fish. There would be only big fish later in the ocean. In the end, they would all die, because of lack of food.

Max: Wow! Fishermen would lose their jobs right?

Emmy: Exactly!
