My favorite summer break was really in winter. I went to New Zealand in February to study English. It was really exciting for me. I stayed in a homestay. There was Rachel, Micheal, Ella, Bella and Chang. Rachel and Micheal were Ella and Bella's parents, and Chang, my homestay mate, was from Vietnam. They were very nice to me.
On my first day of school in Avondale college I went to an international picnic. It was cool. We introduced ourselves to each other. There were students to meet from various countries(Germany, Turkey, France, China, Japan, Taiwan, India, etc.). We went to the highest building in New Zealand and we saw a performance of traditional N.Z. dance. Then, we went to the beach. The beach's scenery was nice and cool. I made a lot of friends there. The next day I was assigned my timetable, class and buddy. My buddy's name was Linda. She was very kind to me.
In school, there were lots of rules, so it was bothered me. I thought it was very different from Korean school. For example, I could build my timetable and we had to go to different classrooms for each lesson. Also, we had P.E. class is a wide grass field. These differences surprised me. In Korean school we just follow the timetable that the school makes us and we have our own classroom that we call homeroom that the teachers come to to teach us. Also we don't have lots of opportunities for experiments. And, in most school's P.E. class, lessons aren't usually held on the grass.
In the N.Z school, I could learn Spanish and Japanese(Spanish was so hard for me that I forgot everything, haha!) It was nice for me. And on the math tests I always got a perfect score. I had already learned it all in Korea so it was very easy to me. Because of this, many students respected me. Whenever I am reminded of it, I think it is really ridiculous.
In the end, I think it was my best vacation out of all of my vacations. Thanks to this experience, my English skills greatly improved.
