Week of 1/30

DUE FEBRUARY 6th

Please write  4-5 sentences about your favorite plant. This can be from the reading or not. You can choose. Write about why it is your favorite (does it have a delicious fruit, vegetable, or grain that people eat? Is it toxic? Is it strange or unusual like the 'Venus fly trap"?). If you have trouble look at your book for vocabulary and ideas about how to describe plants (pages 69-104)

Example: My favorite plant is the maple tree. It is an special tree because it does two unusual things. Firstly, the leaves on maple trees change from green into many beautiful colors in the fall. Secondly, the maple tree contains lots of sugar! At the end of the winter we can make holes in the bark and a sticky, sweet water called sap comes out. When we boil this sap we are able to make maple syrup! Delicious!

Week of 1/9

Last week we read about Yawning and Laughing. Please write a short paragraph (about 3 sentences) about a time when you either yawned or laughed. Describe Why and How: what made you laugh/yawn? did muscles in your face or neck stretch? How did you feel? (tired, bored, happy, excited, scared?) Use vocabulary and information from your book (pages 37 and 42).

Example: Yesterday I was so tired! I yawned in class and my teacher was angry. Then everyone started yawning--it was contagious!

12/26 Please work on section C on pg 26: do at least # 2, 3, and 4. Then continue if you have time.
