Review Vocabulary from February TIME World Report:

habitats (n)- homes, the natural home or environment for an animal ('in the wild')
destruction (n)- something or some place that is destroyed, broken
opposed (adj or v)- against, not wanting something
inhumanely (adj)- not human (nice) way of acting or doing something
critics (n)- people who don't like something
discourage (v)- to try to stop
investigators (n)- people who try to learn new things about something
violations (n)- bad things people do, usually things that are against the law
responsible (adj) being the person who has power, who will be blamed for something done incorrectly
whaling (n or verb) to hunt whales, or the act of hunting whales
treatment (n)- the way something is treated, (example: animals in zoo--good treatment would be if the animals are fed good food, their cages are clean, and they are happy and healthy)
discussion (n)- a long talk about something
coast (n)- land next to the ocean
decline (v or n)- to go down (examples: The number of dolphins in this area is in the decline. The decline of numbers of polar bears shows they will soon be very endangered)
complicated (adj or v)- difficult to understand, to make difficult to understand
captivity: when a human is in jail (or prison), a land animal is in a zoo, or a water animal is in an aquarium; the state of being imprisoned
ex: The lion lives in captivity at the city zoo.
aquarium: a zoo for animals that live in the water (dolphins live in captivity if they are in aquariums)
endangered species: animals that might disappear from the world, small populations of animals
OPTIONAL VOCABULARY (words you do not have to study)
environmental groups: groups of people who are worried about nature in the world (example: people who are worried about how dolphins are kept in aquariums)
proponents (n)- people who like or support something (example: Proponents of dolphin shows think that dolphin shows are wonderful and that there is nothing wrong with keeping dolphins in captivity.
regarding (v)- to talk about, write about
deemed (v)- called or named
obtaining (v)- getting

Write 3-4 sentences about a dream that you have had. As always please pay attention to the tense or form of verbs: (past, present, future) and try to make sure they are all the same. This will be in the past tense because when you write about the dream you will have already had it.
example: Last night I dreamed I was in a magical jungle. All of the plants in the jungle were alive! One plant had a big purple flower that looked like a dog's face. One plant had a bright pink flower with long scary teeth--it made the sound of a tiger and tried to eat me!
