The Turtle and the Rabbit

This story is about a turtle and a rabbit. As you well know, in the original story the tortoise won the race because the hare took a nap. My story is another version which I call “ The Turtle and the Rabbit.”

Once upon a time, there was a smart but cruel turtle and a kind and pure but foolish rabbit. The turtle always wanted to beat the rabbit but he never could. In school he tried to get better scores on his tests than the rabbit, but the rabbit always did better. The turtle tried many things but could never beat the rabbit.

One day the turtle suggested that they have a race. He said “whoever crosses the finish line first wins the race.”

The race began and the turtle quickly crossed the start line.  The rabbit soon passed him and said “ Ha Turtle…let’s have a good race.” When the rabbit couldn’t be seen, the turtle walked to his home and said “ Ha! Ha! I won the race!”

The reason why he said this is because on the start line he had written “finish line” in very small letters. The kind and pure but foolish rabbit ran and ran because he never found the finish line. Seven days later he died from exhaustion and went to heaven.
