The Hunger Games is a novel about a competition in which participants from each district gather in an arena and kill each other until there is only one left alive. The winner gets fame and money.
The main character Katniss is a girl who is poor but lives happily with her mom and little sister when she is chosen to fight for her district, and gets embroiled in a plot to overthrow the government.
While I was reading the novel, I thought that the contents were very refreshing and dynamic. For example, the game held in the arena throughout the story kept me reading to the very last page. In addition, Katniss is a great character. For example, she sacrificed herself on behalf of Primrose, her little sister.
But I also felt the disparity between the districts and the capital showed us the difference between the rich and the poor in our own society in a metaphorical way.
