The Dragon Ball Franchise contains several manga and anime series
Dragon Ball is a series of action manga created by Akira Toriyama about the adventures of Goku, who gets stronger as he travels. Following the original manga, Dragon Ball has become an extensive franchise, with several animation and manga sequels that follow after the original story. Although both the Dragon Ball anime and manga series are beloved by many fans around the world, I am going to demonstrate how the anime series, Dragon Ball Super (DBS), is inferior to the rest of the franchise.
Top Three Reasons Why Dragon Ball Super Is Inferior
An example of an animation error where facial features are missing
1. In the original Dragon Ball Z series, the animation had fine effects, motions, and proportions. The effects were not too flashy and did not disturb viewers who were concentrating on the story. Proportions back then were decent except for a few problems in body shapes. On the other hand, Dragon Ball Super is the opposite. The main animation director, Ebisawa Yukio, is known as the worst animator in Japan. He messed up all the proportions and character designs, which makes it hard to concentrate on enjoying the anime. Sloppy animation errors include characters whose faces are missing facial features, out-of-control body lengths, and lastly, inconsistent colors. He also often uses flashy colors and effects that hurts the eyes of the viewers.
An example of an unnecessary side-trip scene
2. DBS contains slow storylines that go on and on, and are pointless. Rather than focusing on the main plot, Goku and his friends often go on side trips and tours that are not very interesting. Because the original manga is a lot shorter than the anime series, the anime plot has a slow pace since the studio has run out of ideas and keeps adding useless filler. In contrast, the manga is superior to DBS as it contains a lot of essential stories that aren’t boring or repetitive.
An example of a cooking scene destroying Vegeta's original character in the manga
3. DBS also has a lot of cooking scenes that are not necessary in the story. Why are the characters cooking when they’re supposed to be fighting? For example in DBS, a main character named Vegeta makes Japanese food when he can’t fight anymore whereas in the manga he never cooks and is only seen fighting. In this way, the DBS production team is destroying the character.
As outlined in the points above, we can see that Dragon Ball Super is inferior to the original manga series when taking an account the animation errors, slow-paced plot, and unnecessary cooking scenes.
